Its a little bit of a fight, but with patience and persistence the bass are coming out to play. Working the rocky shorelines with lots of cover seems to produce low numbers of larger fish instead of the high numbers of 10-12" bass.

Both of the attached pictures are first-time catches for each species.

Hitting up the crankbaits this time of year, they seem to be outproducing the plastics 2:1 or better with boatloads of 4 anglers this week. Wacky worms were getting strikes but few were sticking. Check out the jointed rapala cranks, they seem to do really well right now.

I see that there are some large fish coming out of LS. I am especially interested in the perch and crappie as they are among the best eating fish. However, I am concerned about eating fish coming out of this lake due to the pollution. Are the fish safe to eat? Can anybody comment on that. Also, can anyone tell me where Felton (I thing that is the name) Slew is on this lake?

We eat probably 2-3 meals of fish a month out of the lake in the summer. They taste fantastic, and after all of the testing, are still found to be very safe to eat below the Nine Mile Falls dam. Spokane river fish through downtown and the valley are the high metal content fish.

Be sure to clean your fish appropriately, trim away silver skin, fatty deposits, and outer skin and you eliminate the vast majority of food-based risk.

Thanks for the info on eating these fish, Gisteppo. Next question is where does one launch a small boat on this lake. i haven't been there in years . The last time I was there one of the boat launches we used to use closed down and the other was a private club.

Public access is year round at Spokane House, and seasonal at Nine Mile (now run by the state) and the BLM launch. There are also several small community launches that are private but usable if you know someone in that area.
