So we spent 4 days camping at Sunbanks on Banks Lake. There's a reason why this is my favorite fishery. In 3.5 days of fishing, typically about 4 hours in the early morning and 4 hours at night, we caught 150-200 bass (all C&R), my boy and I. We caught mostly smallies, but about 2 dozen or so largemouth. We didn't find the schools of real big ones, but we boated a ton of 1-2 pounders (both sm and lm). We boated almost all of them by the rocks and on the points of weedlines. I typically get plenty of largemouth in the weedy coves between devils punch bowl and osborn bay, but not this time (we only got a couple in those areas this time). The baits we were using were crankbaits and poprs, natural and light colors. We caught a few on senkos and curly tails (natural colors as well), but not that many. I am not complaing about catching tons of 1-2 pounders, but because we didn't get any bigger than this, the highlight of the trip had to have been the 1 pound crappie. The picture doesn't do it justice, it was huge, by far the biggest crappie I have ever boated; and of course it was by accident, caught on a crankbait.
