After reading all the recent reports coming fron Lake Cassidy, I decided to give the old lake a go! I haven't fished this lake in 10 years, but the launch sure is as shallow as I remember! LOL
Took the girls out so they could try to catch some crappie for the first time. We launched at about 6pm, but wasn't until about 8:30 that they started rising. There were about seven other boats on the water and alot of people fishing from the dock on the west side. Water temps were about 70-72* and the wind was blowing steady 10mph out of the north.
We started catching crappie at about 8:30 twitching black and white rapala'on the surface, and or trolling them slowly about ten feet out from the pads. At 9pm everyone in the boat but me had to use the bathroom, so it was off to the launch with the trolling motor on 5!
On the way back, I began working the pads with a buzzbait and picked up the only largemouth of the night, and that little guy inhaled it!! Lots of fry all over the lake. I need to come back and try this more with some nightcrawlers this time, the girls had a blast!!
