Bottom Fishing From Boat
Largemouth Bass
All Day

Blasted off at around 10:00am and headed for the inlet channel again. This time my partner and I both hooked tiger muskies within the first 10 minutes, both around 16-18" just small guys. Another launched itself out of the water trying to get my lure (Storm Swim Shad) as I got it back to the boat. Gave him another chance as he just hung out under the boat but he didn't go for it. All in all we got 6 small mouth bass in addition to the two muskies. Largest bass was about 16" caught on a smoke colored Berkley Power Grub about as big as my thumb (cant remember the exact size) Alternated between the grub and swim shad, partner used a small spinner similar to a Rooster Tail, chartreuse color. All in all a fun day of fishing, no rain, not to hot, not a lot of wind.

bigwill,

Sorry to say it but I have spent most of my time fishing in eastern WA as the warmer waters over there are more conducive to largemouth. I am not all that familiar with the lakes around Vancouver either. Unfortunately Washington states game and fisheries management are all screwed up. This state believes that "everyone wants trout" and to that end they kill off some really good bass lakes (which are also horrible trout lakes) in order to plant trout which "everyone" wants to fish for in their eyes. Bass are not cultivated and managed in this state like others do. Until just recently this state didn't even have a warm water fisheries biologist! Bass groups in the state have been trying to get things changed for years with very slow results. I have only started fishing Lk Tapps here locally and it is a very "bassy" looking lake with lots of good habitat and structure. My advice for you would be to look for reports on this site for lakes near you and if you see that others are catching bass at those lakes then get out there and wet the line. If you don't see bass being taken from a given lake it could very well be a "kill off" lake planed only with trout.

Good luck, tight lines....
