I just repaired my reel on the pole I bought for Sturgeon fishing, and I decided it would be fun to go test it out. Lake Desire happened to be close by so I decided to fish there around 6:30PM in the pouring down rain. I tried using a regular freshwater pole with 6 pound test, popped a bobber on, and some power bait, and cast it out off the public fishing dock (I had no nibbles on that pole). I used my Sturgeon pole with 50 pound test (dark green strenline), with a Bluefox Silver size 4 treble hook. I was just testing out my new reel and had no plans of actually catching a fish on this setup. I cast near the lilypads and on my slowest retrieval a small Largemouth Bass hit my Bluefox. It was an interesting catch considering I never expected to catch a Bass on that setup. That small bass made my day.
