Decided to try Lake Wa today to see how the trout bite is right now.
Got out on the water about 5am from atlantic city launch. Overcast and calm, surface temp:65

Setup(No downrigger)50-60 yds of line out: snap swivel> 3/4 oz inline weight>Swivel>18" leader, small 0004 metalic rainbow pattern dodger>Swivel>24" leader> red wedding ring tipped with worm and red trout egg and all smothered with craw/anise UV smelly jelly(be sure to keep away from the swivel areas as the jelly gums up the action and causes tangles....trolled with electric about .3-.7 mph southwest of the Mercer towards the airport and cedar.

In barely 90 minutes I had 4 hard strikes with 2 hooked/landed, an 11" cutt then and a nice fat 18" cutt. Fastest fishing Ive ever had on this lake, usually Im lucky to get a strike every 1-2 hours this time of year and usually soft bites and harder to hook. guess it was right place at the right time for me today. Only saw one other boat out there.

You did not indicate the depth at which you were fishing. To my mind that's one of the most important pieces of data.

Phoenix77, as he wasn't using downriggers fishing depth is only a guesstimate. However he gave us 150' to 180' of line out, 3/4oz of weight, pulling a flasher and spinner combo really slow. I think that's more than enough info to get out and do some damage. Thank you wormwood for the report!

Sorry Dustin, no pics this trip, wife had the cam yesterday. As far as depth, yes, guesstimate at best, but it seems like that setup puts me somewhere in the 25'-30' range based on when I have hit snags with it in shallow lakes and usually it seems when I get a strike its right after marking fish a few feet below that. A downrigger is the next piece of equipment I will be getting so I dont have to guess so much and hopefully electric so I can be lazy :)

Wormwood Getting an electric downrigger has very little to do with being lazy. If your moving your bait up and down alot, if you check or replace your bait alot, if your getting successful hits or hook ups alot, You will need an electric downrigger!
Good report. I'm suprized you got 4 hits before 6:30 AM Good for you- Fish On!
