I hit the lake about 3pm. Lots of pleasure boaters out. I boated a small bass and a rockbass skipping senkos under docks. Met up with Biskitsngrav at about 430. Within the first 15 minutes he gets hooked up with a nice 3 pounder. I scramble in the boat to get the net and break the tip of one of his lamiglas rods. Eventually boated the fish but Mr. loose grip Jay dropped the fish in the lake before we got a weight on it. Then it was just really hot and slow for awhile, I got a rockbass on a jignpig.
Once the majority of the skiers left and the sun began to set I promised Jay the topwater bite would turn on, and he still hasn't caught bass on a topwater. I started throwing my zara I get a nice blowup right off the bat. Next cast I boated the little bass just under 2 lbs. I realized that little fish pulled drag too easy so I tighten up the drag a little. About two or three casts away I get a huge blowup and hookup. Fish ran under the boat and was fightin for his life and snap, game over.
Jay was convinved with spookbait so I toss him one. He ties it on and bam he boats a nice two pounder. After that it was just pitch dark and time to go home. I had some pretty bad luck yesterday....breaking his rod and losing a good fish over 5 pounds.
Jay you were a pleasure to invite for a trip and can't wait for the next trip. Enjoy my XMLTi until I replace that lamiglas.
