My parents and I went on our anual trip to Curlew, and once again it was a super hardcore amazing few days! Fished every day, at all times of the day (although not all times of the day during the same day) and did pretty well. My parents used a 4 in. plastic worm and a red panfish jig and did ok, mostly 5-8 in. LMB, but there were some dry spells. I used my 4 wt. fly rod with poppers and wooly buggers (olive and this flashy green stuff I randomly bought) and did well. I cast to the shore and stripped my fly back to me (either in a boat or my float tube) and got tons of hits. Generally they threw the hook (barbless) but it was still great fun. Again, generally 5-7 in. but a few that were over 10 inches, and on a light fly rod they fought like crazy! Also caught a 12 inch squawfish... =/
So all in all, the fish weren't big, but they were plentiful and for those of us who only fish for bass once a year it was a marvelous time!
And yea, the trout fishing was great too. We didn't do any of that, but we saw lots of good sized fish being taken on the dock and by people trolling.
