Got on the water around 3pm; weather was ideal. Overcast, somewhat cool. I had forgotten how deep a lake this is and went to pinching five split shot on my tippet. Spent a couple of hours going through a whole bunch of wet flies with nothing producing any regular action. Finally tied on an estaz bugger creation of mine and started hooking up immediately. Released at least a dozen over the next few hours in between a lot of misses. It got the point where I just spent time testing new creations from my tying table with my "Tijuana Worm" really doing a number on these fish. The trick was to stay close to the shoreline, weaving in and out around the downed logs and snags. Lots of nice fish, to fifteen inches and feisty! I've been back a couple of times since (with my dredging line) and continue to have great action! Evenings definitely gets the nod over mornings.
