Went down for the annual camping trip. This is our second year camping but our first trip to Silver Lake. All together we had a blast. Brother-in-law's family is back up from Texas to live and joined us out there. We had a total of 21 people camping but everyone I think had a great time. BassDood decided to join us as well and it was awesome getting out there and fishing with him. A new lake, a new county and great fishing. I was able to fish on Friday afternoon for a couple of hours and then again on Saturday morning until lunch. Had the chance to fish Sunday morning but ended up sleeping in which ate up my fishing time. But the two times out there was great. I will let BassDood add to the report as he was out two more time than me and did catch a bunch more fish than I did. The lake was cloudy as the algae was in full force it seemed. I would doubt that visibility in the water was more that 6 inches. We travelled right from the resort and down the shore. I hooked into my first one on a baby brush hog. It weighed in at about .5 pound I think. Seems the brush hog is becoming more and more my go to bait. As we travelled further down the shore I got a couple more small ones. Then hitting an area that Jerry and been to with his spinner bait I tossed the brush hog into and hooked into a nice 2.5 pounder that had a good fight in her. On the way back I switched to spinner bait as BassDood was hooking into them left and right. Got my first spinner bait fish through some pads. That was an awesome fish. The next day I caught another one about the same size ... might have even been the same fish with spinner bait that was hanging from my mirror earlier in the morning bet decided it need to get in the water. Do want to get back down to that lake again. 1.5 drive and well worth every moment. My oldest daughter hooked into a small bass on the dock and she ended up catching caught 15 fish while spending hours on the dock. When I would say we need to head back to camp, she would curl her lip and say one more cast? And then after about 5 - 10 more casts we would head back to camp. Jenna my youngest also hooked into some fish as well.. So it was a great family weekend. Friends, family and fish. Aren’t those what make great days and lasting memories? I know for us it did.
