Wanted to go try for some salmon, but only had a couple hours today to wet a line, so took the boat up to Pine. Beautiful day and no one on the water when I launched. A couple of people fishing from the pier. Water surface temp was right at about 70 degrees. Forgot my depth finder in the garage, but not a big deal as I was hunting bass along the shore. Went to the west end of the lake and worked my way along a few docks throwing a wacky rigged pumpkinseed senko weightless. Wasn't getting any action and the breeze was causing me fits, so decided to troll a bit with a gold jointed rapla headed up with a little split shot. No sooner did I start then I got a hit. It was soon followed by a nice strike and up came a dink SMB. Worked my way around the west end of the lake and got a couple more bumps, but nothing else. Moved back to the center of the lake and tried something different. Rigged a dropshot with an oxblood Kalin's worm and let it go to the bottom using a 3/8 oz wt. Slowly worked my way into shore without any hits, and then started casting into the docks and lillypads. Soon I got ahold of a dink LMB under some lilly pads (my first bass on a drop shot rig). Got a few more hits, but nothing sticking, so called it a day at 3:30. Felt rusty in the bass fishing arena, but at least I didn't get skunked.
