Headed out to Rock Lake last evening.. Launched my 16 foot aluminum boat for the first time at Rock Lake.. I was quite nervous because I've heard that launching here can be brutal, but I had no problems.. Also launched my friends 15 ft aluminum with no problems.. The key to the launch is #1: You cant be afraid to get out there and get wet.. There is a gigantic dropoff not too far off the launch and you need to be aware of where it is.. #2: 4 wheel drive is an absolute must.. There are several rocks around the launch and they are smooth and slick. three of us hit the water at 4:30, got our first first brown at about 5:30 (14") and another close the 6 pm (another 14 incher).. When the sun went down and it was dark, we started getting several hits and we all missed two or three big fish.. we did manage to land one 24" that was around 5 lbs.. The biggest fish of the day and the biggest brown that I personally have ever caught.. we were using susppending Yozuri Minnow plugs in several different colors in about 12 feet or less of water.. My estimation is that the bite really turns on at night in the shallows.. However it's pretty sketchy getting back to the boat launch after dark and even sketchier loading the boat in the dark!! But we had a great time and I caught the biggest fish of my life so all in all it was a great time
