Rather than loading up the boat and hauling it to the lake, I decided to take my fiance to the Offut Lake Resort dock and drown a few worms. It had been a stormy Saturday but today it was low 60's, overcast and the winds were light. We got to the first line in the water right around 1pm. I started with an orange power egg and a worm and she went with a pink power egg (of course!). Within 5 minutes the first biter of the day flew out of the water and threw the hook! I switched to a garlic marshmallow/worm combo and couldn't keep them off of my line! These were quality rainbows.....15-17 inches, well fed, broad backed, really bright and healthy. We had our limits by 3:30. Released 7 alive and only kept what we were going to have for dinner. You need to finesse these trout with small hooks and light line, but it's more fun to fight 'em that way anyway.
