COLD!!! Bill, Clay and I launched at Seatons Grove on Thursday and headed down to #2 set of pens. River was really ripping and water temp was 47 degrees. We were into fish right off the bat with a black 1/8 oz jig being the ticket. We kept five fish from 9 lbs 4 oz with two fish that went right at 11 lbs. Released the smaller fish so they could get bigger. Great day fishing but was cold. Launched at the same place on Friday but was colder today. Fish around the same place at pen #2. The bite was slower and black was not working so we switched to the Rootbeer B2 Squid and were back into fish again. Fish were deeper and had to cast the 1/8 oz jig heads/Squids across current and caught fish at middle to end of drift. Only kept the three largest fish today. 8 large fish was plenty for us in the two days of fishing. Note of warning, boats can not tie off to pens but can tie off to the anchor ropes if that is what you need to do. Using the electric motor to stay in play or slide back worked well. Divers will be inspecting the nets so give them room. We heard from the pen workers that a 22 lb fish was taken on Thurday at the upper set of pens. Be careful using those propane heater in your boats and dress to stay warm. We will be headed back after the Holidays.
