Burrrr! I used multiple colors of woolly buggers that have produced in the past without even a bump. Every time I'd bring my line in I'd have to dip my rod in the water to de-ice the guides or the line wouldn't go back out. So I gave up the fly rod & went to a 4/0 dodger & a wedding ring to find success. I caught 4 & kept 1. I had a few more hits without hookups. I also tried needle fish, squid, Rapalas & Apex. Water temp was 43-45, air temp was either single didgets or in the teens. I used toe warmers & multiple hand warmers. Now that I'm home & showered & warm. I'm falling asleep as I type this. I fish out of a 14Ft livingston with an electric motor. So I do not range far from the launch. It was agreat day out!

Thanks afk for the report. It is good to hear the bite is picking up on the lower end of the Lake. I will definately have to check it out as I haven't been putting in on the lower end lately.
Way to go on the catches, and keep up the reports.

Hey blufin loui, I thought I'd get a chance to chat with you on Sunday. You past me as I was getting rid of some coffee on hwy 17 just past the scale house. I followed you to Bridgeport & when you didn't turn off I knew where you were headed. Sounds like the upper end has been treating you to some larger fish. I talked with one couple that had motored up to the pens and didn't do any good.

I thought to stop and see if you were in trouble, but figured you had things under control what with the lights on and the engine running. We'll have to hook up some time. Do you travel to the RW very often.

I try to get on RW as often as possible through the winter. That being said, it comes down to 2 or three times a month. With 3 teenagers in the house I have to be careful where I spend my time. They know they are welcome to join me at any given time & sometimes do. Two years ago I asked my nephew to come when my boys didn't want to come. My nephew boated an 11 pounder! My boys tried to say thats not fair. He hasn't spent enough time at it. It did entice my oldest to join me for the fish of a lifetime, 15 pounder!! RW is an addiction for me. There is always that chance of a fish of a lifetime as well as I like eating them.

It's always good to have someone catch a fish like that. Being able to hit the RW and spend time with the teens makes for some time management, My hats of to you. I look forward to your future reports and running across you on the water.
