I heard about the fresh plant of rainbows in Steele lake for the free fishing weekend, and decided that I had given it enough time for the high fishing pressure to ease off. Was in a floattube, using a wooly bugger searching pattern, trolled and twitched for the whole lake, about 30'-40' off shore with sinking line. Had 3 "bites", no takers. Then switched to a sink tip line with a Hares ear, and another 2 "soft bites" as I took a second go around the lake. I do believe they were trout on the wooly bugger, and possibly trout on the hares ear. Think the trout here are just trained from the hatchery for farm food, and don't know what an insect is! I believe there to still be lots of fish in this water, and some big ones at that. The dock guys were catching a few on power baits, all colors, but they were nice sized, about 14" on average. Said they were near the bottom. Good luck and Best wishes! Brian AKA Sparkeee24
