Couldn’t have asked for better weather, just wish the fish would have been more agreeable. The most recent water temp and dissolved oxygen readings from the lake buoy show that the lake water is not stratified a will make for tough fishing. Without thermoclines present, I decided to focus on bottom structures in the 40 to 90 foot range. The water was stained at the Mercer launch and out past the East channel bridge. I figured that it would be as bad in the South end so I started my day just North of the I-90 bridge. This area produced one long distance release and a couple of snags. The one hook-up came at 40 feet down on a mini-hoochie and 0000 dodger. Next I headed North to the Seattle tennis club and worked the drop-offs and the ledges to no avail. Ran down to the West channel and fished the Mercer Island side across from Seward Park. This area also proved fruitless and was host to several other folks fishing and a couple wakeboarders. Finished the day trolling for about a half an hour on the North end of Mercer Island and struck out there as well. Called it a day around 2:30 and got home in time to watch the Packers hand the game to the Cards, what schmucks.

I didn't realize the buoy was up and running again. I used it for years and then a couple years ago they took it off line. They had one on Samamish as well .... I'll have to go on-line and get them added back into my favorites. Both were very helpful

Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish both have one active buoy left. Here is the link: http://green.kingcounty.gov/lake-buoy/Data.aspx The data isn't always available for the current date but isn't more than a few days old at any given time.

At what levels make the fishing tough? And at what levels make the fishing more favorable? I was unable to interpret the data on the website.

I had another forum member ask me a similar question and suggested I write a small article regarding the readings. I'll give it my best and post in the forum as soon as I can get my thoughts down on "paper". In the mean time, try and find the graph view and look at dates in the summer and fall days on which folks had success. You should see a distinct pattern in the temps and dissolved oxygen readings in the 10 to 15 meter range. What you are looking for is a rapid change, this will be the thermocline.

I used it a bunch before I had a FF that could detect the Thermocline ... Plus the O2 readings, temp, PH, and Light penetration were another details they used to have. Also ... I use the Traffic cameras on the floating bridges to check water conditions some mornings very early ... You can see chop, or calm water and get a fairly good idea regarding the Lake conditions prior to leaving the house.
