Well the start this morning was slower than it's been, but we produced a 10+ pound fish among 6 lakers. Any day you are at 1.5 fish per hour and a fish over 10, it is a great day! Both guys caught the biggest trout of their lives.
Again, we pounded purple glow Rushin Salmon Wobblers right up the centerline of the lake starting just above the Yacht Club and working into deepwater at 1.5mph. These fish bit all over the place. In fact we got the last fish while we were cleaning fish at about 80 feet over a 130' bottom on our way through the narrows. The big fish bit in 367' just as we were getting ready to make the downlake turn. While we fought it out into deeper water I noticed concentrations of fish on 420-440 foot deep bench. Wow, that will be a long way to go to get 'em.
These fish are generally great on the grill. Even the big fish we got yesterday were tight grained red meated fish. Some are paler with some voids. Catch and release is not recommended by WDFW here on the lakers to allow the lake to propagate indigenous cutthroat and kokanee. I'll try to get an article to Mike that addresses the issue in more detail. It was great to catch some fish, have some fun and be home for the Super Bowl pre-game show. What did they do to Boomers hair???
