Melanie and I went to our favorite winter lake, fishing was a little slow at times but we did manage to get 9 fish, the last one (mine, of course) was really hard , we had trolled before we settled down to bottom fish without a hit on my spoon or Melanie's wedding ring. Well, heading back to the launch I tried the hail-mary for the last fish, trolling an action disc wth the black fly only went about 10 yards before WHAM! Nice fish. Bottom line I guess I should have started with the fly! Weather was just great, Melanie was almost sleeping in the sun towards the end.

Nice report. Did you happen to get the water temp while you were there?

No, as my transducer thermometer went bad last year, haven't put the replacement on yet, my guess (from putting my hands in it ALL winter !) is between 44 and 50degrees, it's been warming a bit the last week or two, but with cold weather forcast for at least a few days it may cool slightly.

I have been told by a gentleman that lives on the lake that the biggest hot spots are around several of the natural artisian springs in the lake. Do you have any idea where those springs might be? He also gave me a diving lure called a Bomber which is fairly large and has a depth range of about 8-10 f t. I am pretty new to the lake and boating so any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
