My dad and I went to fish lake after hearing that the ice was in good shape and the perch were biting. We fished hard from about 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., I caught 2 rainbow trout, 2 sculpins and my dad caught 1 sculpin. There was about 8 inches of ice and hardly any slush. We walked across the lake from the Cove toward the other side of the lake and worked our way back to the Cove. All in all it was a beautiful day we saw 2 bald eagles and enjoyed our time together.

Very nice story, dad will be happy when he reads your post!! The ice sounds to be in good shape still? How deep were you and dad fishing?

Also, was the ice making sounds? It is a bit unerving when that is happening!!

Should have asked before, What size were the trout?

We fished anywhere from 150-200 yards from shore to mid lake not sure of depth. Both trout were about 10 inches. One was caught 1-2 feet off the bottom, the other about 10 feet down from the top, both were caught on a 1/8 oz. chartreuse glow head jig tipped with a garden fresh worm. Yes the ice was making all the usual blurping and popping sounds.

By the way I released both trout so they could hopefully grow up.We might have been more productive if we had electronics to assist us.
