Ok, well i will start off by saying i had a blast catching 3-5 lb suckers/squas whatever, i only fishing for maybe an hr and every cast and i mean every cast within mins i has a nice one on, i would fight them untill they has no more fight left, they all have atleast one or two good runs in them. They became fish food. I was fishing where the little spokane and the big spokane come together down the river a little bit around the point on the road side past the houses on the point. Any how, there were a couple of guys fishing on the point in front of the house and they got kicked out becasue the owners said that the little spokane is a private river. Then maybe 30 min later (i was down stream) they came and yelled at me to get off thier property and bla bla bla, very very rude and they act as if they own the world. I understand I parked in FRONT of thier no tresspassing sign and i did walk down the hill that i guess they own, so i did leave because i got access threw thier land. But if i were to walk down the lake from the little spokane river and i am still under the high water lever that should be legal right? Just curious becasue that is what the other ppl. did. So if anyone has some answers for me let me know, because the lake is way low so if you are within the hight water lever i think you should be able to fish there, that is the way it is everywhere else i know for a fact.

as for access, in oregon i believe the law is access up to the high water mark if it is a navigable river. I think that meant you could boat to ocean. don't really know the law in wa. pretty sure the little spokane isn't a private river. people float it all the time

Stupid rich people... i was hoping that crap would stay on the west side...

If you are on the river and go by there property, im pretty sure they have no rights. But if you trespassed then they have every right to ask you to leave... next time just float down the river to there place, and then stop in the water in front of them and fish away. Should be perfectly legal that way.

Ya i agree with that, i was thinking that if i accessed the water by means of the little spokane river and walking down the bank(under the hight water level mark) and went down there and fished i should be in no means tresspassing right? That is the way it is everywhere else?

Id call the Game department and ask, let us know ! I have heard conflicting reports on the little spokane river now , someone told me that indeed land owners do own the water, and Ive also heard that they DO NOT. So it would be nice to clarify . Let us know what you find !

The Little Spokane River is one of two PRIVATELY owned water systems in the United States. Irregardless of where the water is (high or low) they own it. It is too bad that we have one of the two in our back yard but that is the way it is.

The people on the lake own the WHOLE lake (at least in their heads). Last year we launched at the Spokane house and fished until it got dark, then when we came back the water was VERY fast so we of course had a small wake in the no wake zone which was nearly unavoidable..........the minute we got the boat tied to the dock the ranger was on us like we assaulted someone!
Rich people are funny!

Ok, well i will find that our for sure, here is a question, where does the little spokane stop and the lake or spokane river start? I was fihing around the point from the little spokane river, so i do believe that being in the long lake area and below the high water make should be ok as long as i do not tresspass to get to my fishing spot. Anyhow, i aam going to find out about that conflict. Augwin is there a way you can show us all where you are getting your facts from? Or is it a word of mouth? Just cerious is all.

I googled the question, "Is the little spokane River privately owned"? Here is what I found. The Little Spokane River is a tributary of the Spokane River, approximately 35 mi (56 km) long, in eastern Washington in the United States. It drains a rural area of forested foothills and a farming valley north of the city of Spokane along the Idaho-Washington border. It rises in southern Pend Oreille County, south of Newport near the Idaho state line. It flows SSW past Milan and Colbert. It joins the Spokane River from the east approximately 10 mi (16 km) northwest of Spokane. The river has several popular hiking trails along it, and is a popular destination for canoeing and kayaking. However, it is one the largest privately owned rivers in the United States.

Here's a link to the website.http://flsrv.org/contact.php

I don't believe they mention the section of the river you were talking about.
Happy fishing

Aj's Dad, thanks for clearing up that conflict. So it is privatly owned, but where i was fishing is not, so i am ok as long as i get to my spot without tresspassing. Ok, fish on then, thanks again and keep on posting.

Hey Bazzdude the River is privately owned up to ST. George's School next to the trout farm. Everything down stream of the trout farm is called the Little Spokane Natural Area. I put my U Boat in at St Georges and float all the way to the mouth. There is public access there and a small launch for canoes and Kyaks. Hey thanks for taking the time to clean up Long Lake. I have had fun catching and crippling the squawkers on that same stretch of the lake. That portion in actuality is Long Lake. Just FYI: The strech of river from the HWY 291 bridge to the mouth is the only portion of the little spokane open year round. Upstream of the bridge is still closed. The Park Rangers are authorized to issue citations.
