I finally made it up to this beautiful little lake again and i love it more and more each time I visit this sub alpine lake. We got to the gate about 9am hiked into this somewhat hidden lake arriving about 9:45am. We unpacked the float tubes and chose to take the ultralight spinning rod this time rather than the fly rod. We quickly got in the water and headed straight to the center of the lake then worked the heavy forested side where the depth change was visible with tons of logs and cover in it was prime habitat for any fish. Within a few minutes of casting towards shore along the drop off BAM! fish on. Finally some reassurance that this lake holds big Brookies we caught 3 within 20-30mins and called it a day. All fish about 15inches and fat, they are really healthy fish and gorgeous we kept 2 for lunch released the 3rd. I only have a close up from my camera phone of the male Brookie I caught. This lake needs your help some careless people littered the old launch area with beer cans. So if you have the urge to find this gem please do your part and pack it out along with anything you see.
p.s. No scat, tracks, or any evidence of the big Cougars that were up there last winter as i posted last year.
