Headed to Amber again due to warmer temps and gentler winds, hoping to have another day like yesterday, but it was not to be so. Warmer today with low 50s but surface water temp still 42. Winds from the north and east today, the "kiss of death" in my experience. As usual, the fish didn't like it. I did manage to land 8 rainbows, 12-19" range, and lost a few in six hours of fishing but the bite was nothing like yesterday when winds were from the south and west. Yesterday's take were often solid and lightning quick, whereas today they were slow and subtle. Many fish would bump my offering and then leave it, and even a quick strip away would not entice them back. The ones I did get took blood worms, small black chironomids and a skip nymph. I was lucky nonetheless....many anglers that I talked to had only 1-2 fish or were struggling to get the skunk of their backs. Very few hatches again today, a contributing factor I'm sure.
