Four fish to net today, three rainbows and one brown, with a couple others lost. Two of the rainbows were pushing 24" and the brown measured out at 19". My partner, who started an hour or so before me, ended up with six fish, most of which were fat and healthy, too. Some fought well while others came to the net effortlessly, as though they understood the drill. All were released unharmed to fight another day. One large rainbow, which I lost, went beserk and got air twice before charging off and informing me my drag was too tight. We were fishing chironomid and nymph patterns under indicators, 10' feet down in 16-18' feet of water. Winds from the southwest, water temp at 45. Chironomid hatches are beginning to materialize in the afternoons. Although light, these hatches trigger brief feeding periods that can be intense while they last.

Kudos to the GWs and local PD for their greatly increased presence during the last week. One gentleman told me he'd seen them at the lake every day. I agreed, for I've noticed them everyday also. Keep up the good work, guys! For those who don't know, Medical Lake is a "selective regulations" fishery, meaning artificial flies and lures only with a SINGLE, BARBLESS hook. Bait of any kind is illegal.

Good job, I went out this afternoon for 2 hours and didnt have any luck but it was fun to get out on the lake and work on my fly fishing ( and boy does it need work). I saw one guy in a pontoon land one ( may have been you). I tried chironomids and blood worms about 5 feet down

I was curious if canoes were allowed on Medical?

Yep, canoes are fine. It's a bit early yet, but as summer comes on you'll see ever-increasing numbers of canoes and kayaks.
