Parents came to visit so I rented a boat and took my father over to fish Rock lake. I'd only ever just fished it from the boat launch area and had never had any luck, but I always saw boaters bringing back nice schools of fish. Anyway we hit the lake around 10 am and fished till about 2, mostly just letting the wind blow us up the coast on the eastern side. We tried a few things including rapalas, but what had the luck were brightly colored rooster tails. The water clarity was pretty poor, but with bright colors, cast right against the shore, we caught several fish and kept two browns which were enough to feed four of us at dinner. I'd heard the wind could get bad, but this was ridiculous, ducked into coves every chance we got. All in all a good fishing experience. What made it bad was after returning home, and before returning the rented boat, some jerk stole the 15 hp mercury right off the boat in my driveway. Wish I woulda caught that SOB in the act, he'd be dead right now. Anyway, give Rock a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you follow the guidelines submitted in these reports.
