I got to the lake about 8:30. there were a lot of boat's waiting to launch, even though all the dock's were under water. I thought they were going to raise the water level at lake washingtion and that would lower sammamish,o well. I got up to the north end. at 9:30 had a fastfood slam after that it was dead for 4 hour's. so I motored up and went over to the park at the n.w side to use the restroom & have some lunch.I was thinking o well its gona be a skunk day.so I went back out and dropped the down rigger at 25' in about 40 to 57'of water at 1:30 the hook talk was on for 3 solid hour's. I had 12 hook up's 4 take downs at 2lb's each nice and big,and 8 shaker's that faught real nice till they got off,and 2 more fast food hit's. I thank the lord for the wonderful time out, and for the blessing of the harvest.

Congrats on what sounds like a great save of the day (after 4 hours of nothing) It is nice to hear that the cutts. may be turning on again. I am not sure though what you mean by raising the water level in lake Washington? There are no damns on the lake. Maybe there is something that I don't know about though?

you haven't heard of the sammamish slew dam, well it's only the greatest producer of hydroelectric power north of bonneville.

so was your down rigger and depth setup different on the 2nd go around then what you were doing the first 1/2 of the day? I'm wondering if it was just a random change in the bite, or if you noticed a change in your presentation that caught their attention.

Nice job. 2lb trouts are good eatin!

Thanks for the report Thomas. I've heard it now from a few different folks that the bite is on later in the day, sounds like that may be the pattern until the lakes stratify. Quad, I failed to mention in my report that Lake Washington is almost back to summertime water level. They use the spillway at the locks to regulate the level. The reason for the high water in Sammamish is the confining of the slough. What used to be a gaint wetland between the two lakes was turned into a shallow, narrow ditch.

I have heard that the cutt bite on Lake Sammamish picks up around noon this time of the year and is a little earlier, around 10 on Lake Washington. If any of you guys have been to the Marymoor dog park, or driven down the slough, there is a weir that can also somewhat regulate the water level of Lake Sammamish. They rebuilt that weir, or added to it maybe 10 or 15 years ago(???). When I was a kid you could walk all the way across in the summer and it was just rocks, but the concrete weir that was built has a narrow channel that is deep enough that water flows almost always is in the channel, even later in the summer but most of the weir is dry then. I would assume that the inflow from Issaquah Creek would pretty much match the outflow at the weir in the summer months.
