Since it was such a gorgeous afternoon I decided to take the tube out to Dolloff and see if anything was biting.
Short answer: no.
Launched about 3:30pm, worked the north shore first, pitching dark-colored jigs into the brush. Water temp on that side was a toasty 60 degrees, so they should start biting soon. Dolloff always warms up fast since it's so stained.
Worked about half-way up the lake without a single bite so I tied on a firetiger Shad Rap since that was my go-to bait in this lake all last year. Had a few taps throwing it around the docks, but nothing solid.
Cut across the lake to fish the south end on my way back to the launch and marked some big trout right in the middle holding close to the bottom in about 10' of water. Next time, I'm bringing some corkies and earthworms just for grins.
Pitched a black/blue creature bait all into the brush on the way back to the launch, not a nibble. Dolloff warms up faster but I've never had much success early on this lake. By the middle of May, however, it's one of my favorite places to fish in south King, after Trout Lake.
