Today was such a pretty day the temps were in the low 40's the lake looked clear and we were pumped for a batch of the usual 10-12 inch Bows were accustom to catching here at Heart Lake in mid winter, but it was not to be on this day! we fished for a couple hours and no bites so we decided to chalk this lake up as a bad decision, we then traveled up to the Lind Coulee wasteway behind El Oro feedlot an old secret hole we fished as kids and always landed a lunker or two, but another hour of biteless fishing and Bro and I were ready to can the fishing for this day, but being the die hard fishermen we are we decided to try one last secret hole! we ventured to the old Sampsons Gravel pit just off the Potholes reservoir and about 30 minutes into the attempt to not be skunked I hooked a big one I fought it for around 5 minutes and I'm happy to report Good Ol Rog didn't get skunked I landed a 4 lb.Bow it would be the only fish we Caught but we were proud our 2004 record of no skunked days stays intact! and beings its Soon Christmas and the fishing is sidelined for a week or so we will just end our fishing year as undefeated Rog never skunked all year, I am looking forward to 2005 and the Big Trout bite on south shore moses lake in January and another great season of fishing ! so for all readers have a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and may your stringer always have a fish on it and may your freezers stay stocked see ya all next year Roger D.
