I took my maiden voyage at Amber lake for 2010 this morning.

Got on the water about 10:00 am. Light breeze from the East that turned to be downright windy by midday. Water temp was 55° at the surface and 48° at 20'.

I started out West of the launch with floating line, indicator and brown chironomids. I caught 3 recent plants (around 10") within 200 yards of the launch. A couple of other guys were catching fish in the channel using sinking rigs with buggers. After watching them catch fish while I wasn't I switched to my sinking rig and tied on a Stayner Ducktail. I began catching fish again almost immediately. These were holdovers ranging in size from 14" to 18".

The wind picked up around noon and I braved it out until 2:00. All in all a great first day out. I caught nearly 20 fish with 2/3 being the recent plants.

Tight lines!
