Went out to American on Sunday. The weather was not that great, but a big, fat smallmouth made up for it. It was wet and windy, but sticking out there in the weather yielded a 4lb. 11oz. smallmouth caught on a Luhr-Jensen Hot Lips Crankbait in a craw color. Water temperature was 48 degrees and the depth was around 20 ft. Looking forward to a great pre-spawn with other fat, chunky, smallmouth on American Lake. These fish are laden with eggs and feeding heavily.
