Opening day at Wapato Lake, report 1 of 3. Was quite windy on the first day, but not too cold otherwise, and mostly sunny. Started out trolling a #2 pink-blue-silver vibrax blue fox. I was getting strikes on it, but no hookups. So I tried a smaller lure with smaller hooks, and the hot streak commenced, on the green roostertail with gold blade. The streak ended at three fish caught, so I retreated to our basecamp on the shore to do some still fishing with power eggs/bait. Got some pretty solid action on some green rainbow sparkle powerbait sandwiched between a pink and a yellow poweregg, dipped in berkley trout dip/roe. Landed two more fish there, to complete the limit. Got one mighty slammin strike which almost pulled my pole into the water, which was propped up between a couple of rocks. Luckily he shook the hook pretty quickly before the rod went all the way in the drink. The fish were pretty similar sized, between maybe 11 and 14 inches.
