Made the first trip to Pine this year. There were 25-30 people fishing on the dock when I got there at 11 AM. I squeezed between two guys on the left side of the Y. The guy to me left had been there and hour with no bites and the guy to the right didnt have any fish either.
Used a UL setup with 4 pound line and 1/4 egg sinker. Caught a stocker on the first cast with 5 ft leader. Had three on within the first hour. Missed a bunch of bites when the trout were mouthing the power eggs. I am impressed with the sensitivity with a Lamiglas rod. The bite got slow after a while and I limited by 1:20PM. It was fun reeling them in on a UL setup. Fish felt bigger on the line.
Most or alteast 75% of the guys there were using 10 ft rods with 1/2 to 1 oz egg sinkers. They had leaders just as long as thier rod. Most of them were catching fish too. I bet the fish felt like minnows when they were reeling them in, I was casting just as far as some of them.
A bunch of boats, float tubers and pontoon boat guys were using the boat launch while I was there. Saw 4 dead trout around the dock from people releasing them after catching them on bait. Not cool. It was cloudy with light rain. The wind made casting hard for me.
