This was my first time fishing this season and being a student at WWU I didn't have much time so I was only out for about 2hrs of catch and release. I fished the east side of the lake about 2 1/2 feet off the bottom and caught 4 beautiful trout. They were between 10 and 12". Lake Padden is an amazingly beautiful lake and I plan on returning soon to fish the other side as well.

Is that the Golf Course side? They put in some decent trout in there. Supposedly to have them big enough to reduce bird predation (mostly mergansers I think or maybe cormorants).

Been awhile since I fished it, has a nice mayfly hatch this month on the side you talk about (Golf course side).

Bald eagles are there as well. I have seen them swoop down from about 5 feet above me to catch a fish. Sound like a jet taking off and startled the heck out of me!

Ya the eagles and osprey get their fair share but those guys can pick up any size trout for the most part. Previously, the swimmer/diver birds were coming in by the small flock and eating so much they couldn't fly. You'd see them parke up on shore from overeating LOL.

It is fun to see so many osprey and bald eagles out for the openers these days though. The ospreys really hit the water HARD when they dive...

Good luck and tight lines all.

I went out again in the evening and fished the South side and caught 4 nice 12" rainbow trout. This lake has been pretty good to me so far.
