Tried to hike up to twin lakes today with 2 friends .After 9 hours and many, many stops to take in all the beautiful scenery (not to mention catching my breath) we arrived at poodle dog pass. SNOW SNOW SNOW. At this point you can descend 0.2 miles down to silver lake or continue up to twin lakes . We descended down to silver lake. 90% frozen. I was very Disappointed. no sense going on to twin as these are an even higher elevation alphine lakes. the ground was about 25% free of snow so we set up camp. I didn't even attempt to fish. I took a lot of pictures , watched chunks of ice get sucked down the outlet stream and day dreamed about coming back when the snow had all melted and making it to my true destination......Twin lakes.
