Went to Ward lake yesterday since i was in the area after the mothers day part at grandma's house, i wasnt expecting to catch anything, but i saw some pumpkinseeds in the water so i decided to give it a shot. Tried from the dock and got nothin, then walked down the path to a small shore spot and to my amazement i saw a bunch of fish swimming around in the water, a bunch of largies, pumpkinseeds and CRAPPIE!!! i couldnt believe my eyes, i was so excited because i have never caught a crappie before and it may sound kinda weird or stupid to some of u guys, but catching a crappie is my #1 fishing goal for this season. Anyway, tried a bunch of jibs and rubber shads, had a couple hits but got nothin. then switched to the good'ol hook and worm, threw it out by the lily pads and BAM! instant hit and pulled in my first largie of the season, not huge, but decent for not epecting to catch any fish. After that i didnt catch any more bass but i did catch like 15 pumpkinseeds...and no crappie :((( Anyway, all in all it was a pretty good day.
About a week and half ago i went night fishing there and caught some pretty good sized catfish and a frickin huge carp. night fishing at ward lake is really fun.
