Well, consider this a fresh report from on the water, with eyes on the bottom so to speak.
This is very unkown little lake located behind Shoreline Community College. I have walked to it many times, and always wanted to fish it. You would expect it not to have a sustaining population of fish probably. However there is a recently placed sign (within the last 9 months maybe) which says the lake has become a place where a community group is re-introducing salmon into this lake. In the 1920's the lake was a prvately owned fishing pond held by William Boeing.
There is an inlet from Boeing Creek, and it flows out to Puget Sound. The sign states that fish should be released. No problem with that.
I went in on my float tube. The lake is extremely clean and clear. Most of it is about 6' deep. The far end near the outlet might be 8-9'. It has the cleanest silt/sand bottom. One problem I see for fish is that there is literally no structure in this very clear/shallow lake. The end near the outflow does have a tree down under the water, also this area is under shady trees. I could see into the downed tree limbs, and saw no fish. The far west side has one down tree also... no fish seen under that tree either.
The rest of the lake has entirely clean sand bottom, with a total of 2 pop cans in the entire lake. I trolled a wooly bugger, and threw a silver kastmaster. Saw no fish at all, nor any bites.
It will be interesting to watch and see if this community group I spoke of does in fact introduce salmon/trout or whatever. If they do... of course I won't be able to report this back to anyone. (-:
