After 2 weekends of Trout fishing up at Waitts (they are biting like crazy up there) it was time for some Bass fishing, so the wife and I took the afternoon off and headed up to Eloika. Water was low, lillies are in full bloom and surface cabbage is starting to show, water temp varied from 64-73 degrees. Started out on the left side of the boat launch and nailed quite a few in the lillies in the 1.5-3.8 lb range (sorry no pics, forgot the camera). Saw some beds with fish on them and some looking to make beds, most were in the 2-4lb range. Saw some huge black Crappie in the same area as some of the beds so my wife pulled out a jig and caught a few. Saw something strange that I read in a few other posts, there were about 5-8 LMB dead and floating on the east end of the lake, I saw a couple about 3-4 weeks ago but it seems like the numbers have increased and these seem to be about 4-5 lbers. We're thinking about calling Fish & Game to have them checked out to see what's going on.
