Hit up Killarney late afternnon Saturday.
Caught a pretty good mess of bluegills and some perch but threw back some small ones (bluegills only, little perch went to the compost bin).
Hard to see in the pic, but caught the trout on (real) worm so kept it. I caught a couple decent bluegill and then some medium-small ones (the dinks went back unless bleeders).
The perch were either too small (they went to the compost- maybe 4-5 inches) or else were about 6-8 inches. No big ones but caught two decent ones about 8-9 inches back-to-back thinking I found a pocket of big enough ones. But then that was it.
One event caught me offguard. I was casting up close to shore near overhanging brush getting bluegills when I had a decent LMB literally try to EAT my bobber. It slammed the thing. So I figured I must have cast right over the top of a nest or something.
Didn't have any bass gear with me but noted the spot. Did catch a couple smaller LMB with one about 12 inches and the other a dink of about 6-7 inches. C&Rd them.
It was fun though to hook into a mess of fish even if they were mostly small and they're big enough for a fish fry :-).
Wish I could hook into a mess of bigger perch though in one of these small lakes. Couldn't find them in numbers today. Theme for the season so far.
The bluegill kept the pace high though and they seem to be nearing spawn (females fat with eggs).
Have fun out there and stay safe all!
