I launched the boat on Benson at 7 am. The lake was shrouded in a light misty fog that hung like a feather over the water. The air was still and the surface of the lake was mirror smooth. I started fishing with a jig and a jerk bait but after an hour switched to a black and blue curly tailed worm rigged weedless and with a 3/16 oz sinker. Still nothing. Then I took out a new plastic tube that looks exactly like a real minnow and rigged it weedless. Using a combination swim, stop & go, twitch retrieve I stated to land bass. After 5 hours I had caught 6 little ones, 11 inches and under, 2 that were in the 1 to 1 1/2 pound range, one 2 pound 8 ounce bass and one 3 pound 3 ounce bass. I lost two other nice bass, one tossed the hook on a long distance release and the other, the line broke half way between me and the bass. A reminder to check your lines for nicks, guys! Anyway, had a great day fishing, good weather and the bite was good once I figured out what the bass wanted. It's a very pretty lake too.
