Hit the lake later in the morning around 11am. The wind made the lake rough so I couldnt fish the normal east side so I headed to the west side north of the airator. I think my corn went bad so I didnt have much luck. I got a few hits but nothing to the boat. There was another boat out there that said the got there 20 fish between the 2 of them but they didnt seem to really want to share anything with me. I asked what depth they have been getting them and they said they started at 15ft this morning and worked deeper after that. It was nearing 2pm then and I would have been nice to know the depth they stopped at. Not many people like to share thats for sure. What fish are biting on one day they most likely wont the next. Since my corn was bad I tipped my lures with white power bait maggots and nightcrawler. The maggots got the hits. The lake got smother as the wind calmed down around 3pm when I was leaving Good luck to others.
Tight lines. Oh I rated a 3 because it was nice to be out on the water and I didnt need to put on the rain gear.

Wind? What wind? I think that there is some direct cosmic connection between my trailer hitch ball and the weather. When it is exposed it sends out some form of inclement weather blocking waves or signal. As soon as I cover the ball with my boat trailer’s coupler the waves are interrupted and the nasty weather returns.

Anyway glad to hear that you got out and there is always next time. Regarding the corn, when I open the can of Shoepeg I divide it into 5 or 6 small zip-loc bags and keep it in the freezer. I also refreeze the unused portion after a trip. I may be using corn that is 2 or more years old.

I can agree with that. Im not far from the lake and it seemed nice to me until I got there. It was a little choppy at the launch but not bad until I got out in that lake from that cove. Rseas thanks for the tip about freezing the corn. I wasnt sure if it would make it smell or taste different. My dad and I went out in his boat to do some fishing on a lake in Idaho with a cove on the west side with a stream that fed into the lake. The cove was big and deep about 80ft with some nice drop offs. When we got our limits and ate our lunch we headed back to the east side to take out. It was so rough out on the main water a wind storm came in. We called to the camp on the cb to find out it was going to get worse and needed to get out. It was a 19-20ft cabin cuddy aluminum boat and being that young 2-4ft waves looked deadly. Luckily the dock blocked most of the waves and we got out with out injury or damage to the boat. It was well worth it though no trout under 4lbs. Oh yes there is always next time.

I'm not sure why fellow fishermen don't want to share fishing information with others. I've never hesitated to share any info with a specific person who asks. I understand the hesitation to not posting secret spots or other important information in the general forum for the world to read, but giving specific location, depth, bait, or lure info to someone to help them have a successful outing is something I love to do and wish everyone did.

I have to agree with you Dave. I have given out as much info as I can to help people have a better outing. I even posted one about casidy for everyone to read. I didnt realize you could do blog post until I rseas told me about his. People always get funny around derbys too. I do alot more for the younger generation giving away my tackel and sometimes rigging it for them. Thats our future in keeping fishing open for others to do. There are some spots that I keep secret but not many. Who knows they may not be secret any more I havent been to those areas in a long time.
