Rented a cabin on at Silver Beach Resort, nice people. Trolled Saturday caught a couple trout and thirty perch. The silvers were biting and most people limited out between 6-7 am after that no more silvers. Average day on the water.
SUNDAY though things took a turn. Right after a little rain I tossed in a propeller bass lure with an orange/yellow skirt on it, no worm. 4 or 5 in the afternoon, 55 degrees light wind. I was fishing from shore and cast out towards a dock and this monster hit BAM! Didn't have anywhere to run, easy sloping sandy bottom, no weeds or debris. Shored an 8.5 lb 22 inch BROOK TROUT!! This thing was freakishly big. Looked it up online and missed the state record by one inch... Still an amazing fish and a great day!! ONCE IN A LIFETIME BROOKIE!!! We didn't know they made brook trout this big.
