WOW what a day on the water. We went to RUfus Woods this morning and arrived at the corp launch around 11:00, a nd had to wait in line as boats were inspected (equipment and safety) by Douglas county Deputies. Luckily there were only a couple of boats ahead of us, and it wasn't raining, and I like to ksee the law enforcement making a presence at our launches. The Deputies weren't writing citations, just handing out warnings so boaters would be aware of infractions, and it sounded like there were several infractions on just the two boats ahead of us. When we got in the water, we headed up to the lower most pens to drift around and see what was happening. For me, Nothing. Cindy was able to hook two small trout, and released them at boatside, a few more hits, but no other hook-ups. We fished several spots as we were going back downlake to no avail. All our "hot spots"were cold today. We came off the water around 5:30, and I only scored two or three hits the entire trip. No hook ups for me. We tried our usual arsenal, and colors, but no takers. We saw one fish netted (1-2 pounder), and heard what sounded like a song and shout of victory. It was raining pretty hard at the time and we couldn't see if they landed it or not. Everyone we talked to was saying it has been tough fishing lately, and we didn't find anything to dispute it. It was good to be on the water, but would have liked to had a fishie to grill up for supper. oh well, maybe next time. The water temp was running 54-55* through-out the trip. Stiff breezes at times, and anything from sunshine to downpours.
