My buddy LMBDave just bought a 10 ft Livingston and we took it out on Louise saturday and sunday. Both days we caught a ton of fish and it was just pure awesome. So this report will contain stuff about both days :)

We started out by targeting Largemouth Bass by stopping by each of the docks and areas where there were lily pads.

I tossed out a 5" Pumpkin Pepper Senko Texas Rigged on a 2/0 Hook inbetween the pads and on the second cast I let it sink and gave it a couple twitches and BAM a Largie hit it and I set the hook. The fish got caught up in the pads and when I got her free she looked it be a good 2 lber at least. I was debating lipping it but I decided to just lift it into the boat. BIG MISTAKE. After changing lures so often with braided line, I got lazy and didn't tie the braid knot. So when I lifted the fish it shook hard and my knot came undone.

Lesson One Learned about using braided line, no matter how well / tight you tie the knot, if you don't tie the right knot, you're screwed..

Anyways, we hit the next spot and I tossed out the same rig and caught a very small largie that was actually about the same size as my senko. Talk about having eyes bigger than your stomach lol !!!

We then were moving along the shore and I decided to rig up another pole with a drop shot rig. I was using nightcrawlers for this and discovered that Lake Louise has Yellow Perch in it. I guess you learn something new everyday. But yeah, using the drop shot rig, it was constant action, every single cast I was getting a fish. I caught a TON of BIG Rock Bass and some good sized Yellow Perch. BUT BUT BUT. here is what was really awkward that I did not expect at all. I caught 3 Rainbow Trout using my drop shot rig! I never imagined that I would catch trout using a bass rig! Haha good times.

So that pretty much conluded the first day. I would say I caught well over 40 fish.

So we hit the lake again on sunday, and this time I started off using my drop shot rig. But this time I wasn't using nightcrawlers I was using soft plastics!

I rigged up a 6" Brown w/ Green Stripe Roboworm on my drop shot rig, which btw only had a size 6 hook on it. I cast out by some pads, give it a few twitches and got a bite so I set the hook and caught a small largie that was about 6 or 7 inches or so.

As we're moving along, I'm using the same rig and switching between 6" Roboworms and 4" Pumpkin Pepper Mister Twister Finesse worms. Both of these catching very good sized Rock Bass. I would say I caught several in the 8 - 10 inch range.

However, the highlight of both days was when I caught my MONSTER Rock Bass. I was looking along the shore and saw what I thought was a bed and casted towards it. I was twitching my roboworm along, reeled in a bit, began twitching it some more and then I saw a fish shaking before I felt the bite so I set the hook really hard and felt the weight of a good sized fish! My immediate thought was that It was a Largemouth but I was wrong. It ended up being an 11" ROCK BASS!! ELEVEN INCHES!! That's quite a monster of a Rock Bass in my books!

But after that, we hit up some more spots and I switched to nightcrawlers on my dropshot rig and caught a whole ton more of Rock Bass, Yellow Perch, and some Rainbow Trout again.

I give Lake Louise 5/5 for awesome fishing!

NICE! I need to find consistent perch that size around Fed Way area... How deep of water w/the drop shot technique? Looks like the middle sections of the lake are pretty deep for smallish lake.

Thanx for the report and pics!

@ nickbell, keep trying for those largies! :) @ knotabassturd, i'm not sure exactly how deep of water we were fishing since we don't have a depth / fish finder. but the drop shot technique seemed to work well in both shallow and deeper water. we hit a few spots where i would say it was at least a good 15 feet deep at least.

oh yeah, @ jay k, the public access is very limited. there is a very small shore access / boat launch area only big enough for maybe 2 or 3 people to fish from shore. if you have a small boat that would be ideal!

Nice Rock bass. Has been several years since I caught one. Nice pictures! Your pictured Rock Bass resembles a cross between a Carp and Smallmouth.
