I Went down to the lake after Dropping Cindy off at work this morning (man is life good) with the intention of catching some Kokanee. Trolled the Lakeside area , and across the lake from there with no hits, and didn't mark any schools. Saw a few boats working the area but no fish. Went on up to the Rocky Point area, and was able to mark scattered fish, which I thought were silvers, but after working them a while and catching two squa... AAAAAH, Pikeminnows, and one Lake trout, I decided maybe they weren't kokes, and decided to troll for lakers. I had been using the usual wedding ring set ups for the kokes, so switched out to a M 2 Blue metalic Flatfish with a small chunk of Pikeminnow on the stinger, and one of Joe's Ace HiFlies with the wigglefin, and a piece of Pikeminnow. Started out across the lake toward the opposite shore with the ace hifly at 135 feet or so, and worked the bottom contour with the flat fish. About half way across the ace hifly went to dancing, and fish on. I boated a small (22 incher) Mack. Lowered the fly back down and went on my way. Worked down lake zig-zagging from the trench back toward shore till I reached 150 feet or so and back out to the deeper water. Was able to pick up two more lakers this way with 3 of the 4 taking the flatfish
, which I worked close to the bottom. At the end both presentations were close to the bottom. Had a couple of takedowns that didn't stick, and a double snap off the clip which I wasn't able to hook up on. all were in the 22-24 in range. The pic of the depth finder is of the downrigger balls coming up after both lures were hit and knocked off the clip. Nice group of arches. The skunk is off for the lakers, I boated 3 while intentionally trying for them. WAAA HOOO. I guess all I needed was some Pikeminnow to sweeten the deal. Tight lines and sharp hooks
