Wow, was it windy! And WET. Yeah, we were the guys in the boat who were wearing "All You Can EAT Spareribs" clothing protectors... kinda like a garbage bag liner, with a hoodie. Don't laugh--- those 'coats' kept us DRY. Well, sort of.
Back to fishing--- it was "streaky". We would catch a couple of fish in rapid succession then...nothin'. We went over an hour with not even a bite. During this time it RAINED. And RAINED. The only way you could've gotten wetter is to jump in the lake. When we got to the lake (the FIRST ONES at the launch!!) the lake was calm, but within a half-hour the wind was a-howlin'... Together with the rain, it made me feel like we were somewhere else, catchin' CRAB. But: We had snacks. The best snacks. Oreos and peppered beef jerky. Two of The Fisherman's Basic Food Groups. However, their effectiveness in assisting us to catch fish this day was suspect.
Around 11:00, some brave soul and his gal were spotted riding a "personal watercraft"--- and with them came some sun. Suddenly, the fish were biting again! We soon completed our limits on 12" rainbows, and with each of us catching a 16" trout near "The Island." Mine had its belly FULL of crawdad...
We witnessed a "dust-up" between a pair of seagulls and the Williams Lake Bald Eagle while our fishing poles were inactive... An aerial show to remember! That Bald Eagle--- what a majestic (and HUGE!) bird.
Also: The Other Guy In The Boat wants us to change our names, from the BBs of BL to the WWWs of WL. Can't say that I blame him... Every time we've fished Williams Lake it's been GREAT!
