This is an annual trip with some of my best friends. We fished a half day on the 25th and the 27th with a full day of fishing on the 26th. We typically fish nymphs on sinking lines or chironomids on floating lines with strike indicators. The chironomids were the big ticket this year. It rained most of the time, but good fish were taken, mostly in the 11 to 13 inch range. We did land a few fish in the 16-17 inch range and broke off a couple of larger fish. Over the last 10 years we have averaged 30-60 fish per angler per day on flies (catch and release). This year was a little down in the number of hookups, as we "missed" a good number of fish. It was another great year at Jameson. If you keep a few fish for the frying pan, you won't be disppointed as they are great eating. This year, I've got to make it back for the "October" season.

We stay at Jack's Resort and let me tell you the meals and homemade pie served at the restaurant are worth the trip. The Resort stocks a good supply of flies that work well in the lake. These flies can be fished on spinning gear. Use split shot ahead of the fly for trolling and a small bobber with chironomids suspeded below for "still fishing". Use the lightest leader that your comfortable with. We think the bank fishermen are "missing the boat" by not casting flies.
