I used to commute between St John and Cheney for school. After school I'd head back and stop at the launch and fish. I tried everything and walked by behind the bridge but the best luck I had on those hot days was to get the biggest grasshopper I could find. Hook em thru the back to keep him alive an use about fifteen feet of leader and then a bobber. I didn't get a lot of action but when I did it was always a lunker fish Rainbow and Brownies. Great times and a great lake. Just got my 16 foot aluminum boat and ready to get out on Rock lake. Keep the great reviews coming. Super helpful for us newbies and makes great experineces for my son and I.

If you've never been out on the lake in a boat before be very careful. This lake is very dangerous. You will need a fish finder; there are a lot of shallow rocks throughout the lake. Be careful of the wind, it could kick up quickly and act like the ocean without warning. Stay safe!

Thanks Jim, My grandparents and Mom are from down there so i grew up hearing all the horror stories of Rock Lake mostly from my grandmother. Setting my fishfinder up today. Is the launch still iffy or has there been any improvements. I appreciate the feedback. Raj

launch is still iffy, and the water is about 18" below full pool. You should be able to launch a 16' OK, but be careful or you will leave trailer parts behind (LOL) like so many others have.
