HIt American on Saturday to try something new-downrigging for Kokanee. Got on the water at around 8am and ran over to the VA. Were marking a few fish but the number of boats outweighed the fish we were seeing so we ran over to the island instead. Got into some trout right away and even landed a 11" perch at 20' on a wedding band under the downrigger. I landed my first Kokanee at around 9:30 on a Green Wedding band with a piece of corn down at 30'. My line broke upon releasing the fish and I ended up losing my wedding band in the process. I decided to try a spoon instead on my next setup. Green and siver about 24" behind a 4/0 Les Davis Herring Dodger. 15 minutes into my first pass with this setup, I hooked the fish in picture number 1. This being my first Kokanee trip, I didn't know what to expect from these fish regarding size and quality of fight. I'm not at all disappointed and I'll definately be doing more of this. To end the day, I got a nice bonus-a 17" cut-throat in pic number 2. I didn't even know there were cut's in this lake.

Final Totals for the day-2 Rainbow Trout, 1 CutThroat Trout, and 5 Kokanee landed with several other fish missed/lost. On the lake for around 5 hours. Fishing wasn't that hot but the day was spectacular.
