First, I want to thank the Quad Father for his posting about the Kokanee that he had caught at lake Cavanaugh. If the Quadfather had not encouraged others about the fishing sucess he had on lk. cavanaugh then I would never had gone.I had originally started my day at lk. goodwin. Marked fish at close to the bottom at 40'. Had no takers only 1 Hit. Left about noon and decided to give cavanagh a try as I have never been there. Started trolling to the left of the boat launch with a pop gear and dicknite combo tipped with a small piece of red power worm. After a couple of long passes I caught 1. Immediately I set back out and caught another trolled some more had a hit and missed it. Came to shore at the launch and met Washlk.com Idstud member, Who snapped a couple of photos of my Kokes thanxs everyone Happy fishing

Your welcome for the pics its was nice meeting you. I didnt fish had my 2y daughter. I always make it a point to check out a launch before I haul a boat in. She had fun playing on the log and in the water. Thanks for your report.

Hey Fliser,

Glad that you made it up there. I am sorry that it wasn't more successful, but I don't know what other people think.. My 2 cents is to stay away from those big stringers of pop gear. I have some of that too... and I thought if I was a fish I'd be all over it. I have wondered though if it spooks the fish. Do you the have a downrigger? If you don't, try to go with a bannana weight, followed by any kind of heavy bling, i.e. wedding ring, promise keeper, or whatever has some flash. I am glad to hear that you checked it out!

I know when I was hanging out at the boat launch a couple boats heading out were raving that pop gear was the way to go. I know in Idaho that was the way to go but the best luck here I have had with a 4/0 flasher/dogdger followed by a weddingring of some sort. Im going to have to look into one of those promise keepers myself. LOL hanapaa808. I feel any cents is better than none plus those of you that have had great luck on a body of water has knowledge to pass on if they so chose.

Congratulations, sounds like a fun day. I agree with Quadfather, I think that the pop gear spooks the fish. Or who knows maybe it angers them in to biting, a reaction bite of sorts. That said I have caught plenty of fish while pulling pop gear or gang troll type rigs but I prefer to fish dodgers and flashers.
