well first off, this report is for the past week. a friend and i have fished the lake three times since last friday. various weather conditions ranging from sunny clear skies to approaching fronts and sprinkles of rain. only one fish between us! my buddy caught a 1.75 pound largemouth in about a foot and a half of water on a weightless watermelon senko. weather was partly cloudy and air temp was 66. water temp 63 degrees. as always the water in this lake is stained and visibility is about three feet most of the time. i have a relative that lives on the lake so i fish it regularly. after two seasons of only a handful of fish and only one of those being over three pounds, i am getting discouraged. ive tried every lure/technique at all depths. i know the fish are in here but how to consistantly catch them beats me. it seems like we just get lucky every now and again. the lake bottom looks like a desert and all of the shoreline cover/docks arent giving up fish. ive tried to come up with a pattern when i think of the fish i have caught and the conditions are all over the place. no pattern that i can see. well sorry for the ramble but i guess im just looking for some advice or maybe yall could tell me about some of your own experiences on this lake.
*note, i did see some fry in the shallows, however i cannot see any visible signs of beds/deserted beds? this lake is tough!
